Most of them wanted stuff that is already available just not to everyone, more laptops for teachers, computers for students, more SmartBoards and LCD projector. Although many who think they want a SmartBoard would get by pretty well with an LCD projector. The music teachers would like computers with composing\/arranging software, and the SPED dept. would like a gadget that reads to those who cannot.
\n I realize that a shopping list is not what goes into the tech plan document. I need some brianstorming suggestions on wording that as a vision, and not a wishlist.

\n How about structuring a network, starting the top with the STEP educators. They mentor a few people in whatever tech thing we are implementing. They may have 2-5 people that they mentor. When their proteges are trained, they become mentors for the next rung of the network, and the pattern continues until all are trained. Except for the bottom rung, everyone would have a mentor and some proteges. Combine this with just in time by implementing the technology as the training is happening. The higher rungs would implement as they are being trained, but lower rungs wouldn't implement until their mentors had completed their training and were ready to train them. August inservices with the entire faculties does not provide useful training to most teachers. They learn better with someone demonstrating, then coaching, then supervising them as actually use the technology in their classroom.
