Section 8: Integration of Technology with Curricula and Instruction

The Instructional Technology and Information Technology departments of Mid-Del will continually collaborate with site administrators and certified personnel to ensure optimum integration of technology with instruction. Personnel will stay current on technology innovations in order to provide professional development and maintain equipment and programs.

Technology Programs and Equipment
Mid-Del integrates technology at all levels of the educational process. Teachers have access to programs that provide assessment data, supplements to regular classroom instruction, diagnostic and prescriptive lessons, and multimedia resources, including full-motion video. The majority are web-based and updated continuously. Software that is not web-based is evaluated and updated every three years. Software considered for adoption must be compatible with the district’s existing technology. Based on specific educational needs addressed in the site On Track Plan, each site’s technology team will determine the selection of instructional materials including software programs.

The district will continue to use the mobile laptop carts. Each teacher in the district will have a computer for classroom use based on a planned replacement schedule (currently a three year life span). District resources include a library automation system, remediation software, online video resources, management resources including online grade book and attendance. The district will expand access to Internet resources via wireless connections and the purchase of additional student work stations. Site administrators, STEP educators, the technology trainer, and technical staff will monitor both implementation and use.

Timelines
Program Implementation
Although every implementation is unique, all projects follow a similar pattern of project management techniques to accomplish a successful conclusion.
All technology projects, once initiated by a stakeholder, should follow an industry standard timeline for completion.
Programs should be evaluated on a yearly basis utilizing a rubric developed by the stakeholders in the planning stages of the implementation.

Students
Students will achieve technology proficiency as outlined in the Oklahoma PASS standards. Students will produce artifacts that show evidence of having mastered the curriculum standards for instructional technology at their grade level.
